How to get IESCO bill July 2023 with New Reference Number

In the month of July 2023, the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) took some management decisions and created another Sub Division which resulted in creation of new Gulzar-e-Quaid sub division. Due to this, the existing consumers got assigned new reference numbers. If your home electricity connection falls in Gangal subdivision, Follow the steps below to know your new reference number and get the latest electrcity bill of July 2023.

First you need to find your new reference number. Open this link IESCO New Reference No. and enter your old reference number in the top text box. Click Search.

The New reference no. along with name and address of the electricity connection will be displayed so that you can confirm that this is the correct Reference number. Note down this new reference number.

Open the online bill page from the main IESCO website.

Take the new reference number and enter it into the text box. Also, select the Option "R" as highlighted in the picture below. Click on Search and it will display the electricity bill with the new reference number.

There have been complaints from consumers that the new meter reading of the electricity meters was delayed due to this management decision of IESCO, and in the latest bill the reading date is 23 July 2023. Normally the reading date is 15th of the current month. Due to this delay, the electricity bills of most consumers has increased a lot, since they crossed the threshold of 300 or 500 units which resulted in a unit cost of Rs. 29.16 or higher.

Bought some stuff for my Work

One of my relative was on a short trip to USA in the first week of July. Meanwhile, I saw some really interesting 4th of July discount deals on stuff I was looking for, and decided to take advantage of it, by requesting my relative to shop stuff for me from the land of the free.

I gave some thought to what should I buy, and the first thing on my mind was a big LED monitor. My old Samsung 22 inch was aging and had a small black blot on it. The replacement I decided was something a bit big, around 27 inch and with an option of the old and faithful VGA input. The Best Buy salesperson pointed out at their best selling 27 inch Samsung curved CF 390 which was a real bargain at $130.

The screen arrived unharmed a few days later and worked fine. A few things different about this LED screen were that it had a rigid stand with no Up down movement or rotation, and the LED adapter also couldn't be attached to the LED's back and occupies space on your desk. So, it is a little inconvenient in those areas, otherwise works as it should.

2023 seems to be the year where I finally muster up the courage to share whatever I feel like. Enough of keeping the thoughts to myself.

It always occured to me, that all these wonderful people, who decide to publish about the problems they face and then take the pain of putting up its solution, have helped soo many people move on and solve their problems.

This will be my little corner of the internet, where I publish about things that bother or please me in my life, both professional and personal, and how I go about solving or coping with them.

To the strangers of the internet, this is my way of paying it forward.

Riding a Bike

I recently acquired a hand-me-down bike from a family friend who had one standing in his garage for a couple of months. It was in a sorry condition, but I decided to revive it to its almost former glory, instead of buying a new one.

It took 2 days for the bicycle shop to repair it. Almost all the components were broken. Brakes- missing, Gears shifters- missing, a pedel- missing, and a whole lot of wear and tear of the bearings and gears.

Finally, when I was informed by the shop that the bike was ready, I was joyous. I hurried to the shop that day and took the bike for a ride.

After almost 2-3 months of not riding a bike, it was a bit cumbersome. I re-kindled my love for biking while I was visitng Sweden for a small office trip. However, my experience in my own town was a bit tiring. Its a hilly terrain and there is hardly a level road. Each turn was a roller coaster ride downwards and a hurculean effort back. So much for a healthy pleasure activity.

Now, I usually put my bike in the trunk of my car, drive to any park on a weekend, and ride it there. Its a bit of an effort to fight off procrastination, wrestle with the bike to fit in the car's trunk, and ride off to any park nearby. But it sure is wholesome!

Books that I read in 2019

In 2019, I gave reading book an energetic re-visit and tried to develop a habit of reading. One page or five, I just wanted to add reading a physical book to my habit and it worked!

So, I was able to complete my long awaited Book, Factfulness by Hans Rosling. I knew it was going to change the my perspective on things, and boy oh boy it did.

To summarize Factfulness in a sentence, Develop a habit of backing up your opinions with Facts, rather than subjective thoughts and your gut feelings.

I was fortunate enough to be recommended another book by the author of Factfulness, its called Predictably Ir-Rational, by Dan Ariely. The book has some very good experiments revealing some of the ir-rational decisions that our brain takes even with us fully aware that we are in control. It uncovers how in some ways we can be primed to take a specific decision, which fall flat on rationality. Our most informed decisions can be influenced by things as ir-rational as just taking a look at a picture or hearing or reading words about something completely unrelated.

You can learn about it by searching for terms like Anchor-pricing, the cost of Zero, and Arbitrary Coherence. This might be enough to lure you into reading the book.
